HP has started shipping HP EliteBook 2740p ultra-portable tablet PC that is powered by Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and features faster DDR3 memory and a new Intel graphics subsystem.

Business-rugged HP EliteBook 2740p tablet PC features a brushed-anodized-aluminum metal with platinum finish design that helps protect notebook on the go. A magnesium aluminum display enclosure and magnesium alloy chassis provides enhances durability. It has a rotating hinge, and attached to it is a 12-inch foldable display.

Claimed to be designed for corporate road warriors, the new EliteBook 2740p starts at 3.8 pounds and is HP’s first touchscreen-enabled Tablet PC convertible for business users.In addition, the model also meet military standards for high temperatures, dust, vibration and altitude besides featuring a built-in HP DriveGuard technology to provide enhanced protection to hard drive from  impacts.

The HP EliteBook 2740p offers choice of Processors including Intel Core i7-720QM Processor (1.66 GHz, 6 MB L3 cache), Intel Core i7-620M Processor (2.66 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache), Intel Core i5-540M Processor (2.53 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) or Intel Core i5-520M Processor (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) and offers upto 8GB of DDR3 1333 MHz RAM, upto 320 GB 7200 rpm SATA II hard drive. The ultra-portable Tablet PC also has dual pointing devices, one pointing stick with two pairs of rubbery mouse buttons, and a standard multi-touch touchpad.

The HP EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC comes with 12.1-inch diagonal LED-backlit HD+ anti-glare display that now supports capacitive touch functionality and is powered by integrated Intel GMA HD Graphics solution with shared gDDR3 video memory and also features built-in 2.0 megapixel webcam with software that can scan and read business cards and integrated microphone.

HP EliteBook 2740p’s 12.1-inch display can be folded back onto the notebook’s body to create a tablet, and the touchscreen capable display supports multitouch gestures, finger taps, and swipes. In addition, the Tablet PC also includes a tethered pen for on-screen writing and similar activity.

The HP EliteBook 2740p tablet offers 1 Express Card/54 alot, 1 Smart Card Reader and 1 Secure Digital and also features High definition audio with integrated stereo speakers, integrated dual-microphone array, Stereo headphone/line out port and a Stereo microphone/line in port connection.

The EliteBook 2740p is equipped with integrated Intel Gigabit Network 10/100/1000 Ethernet card and offers Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN connection, and HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth 2.1 Wireless card. The tablet PC also features FireWire port.

The HP EliteBook 2740p tablet PC also supports the addition of a (optional) docking station (US $300), the HP 2740 Ultra-Slim Expansion Base, that allows adding a DVD dual-layer optical drive and features a eSATA, additional USB 2.0 ports and VGA Display Port connections.

The EliteBook 2740p ultra-portable tablet PC comes with 6-cell 6-cell (51 WHr) Li-Ion Prismatic battery that is claimed to provide upto 5 hours of power and from increased battery lifespan to extended computing time, the model offers optional battery life solutions to meet your needs, including the HP Long Life Battery, the HP Ultra-Capacity Battery or the HP Extended Life Battery.
