Department of Indian Post Embraces Twitter
Now, if you have a query or a grievance relating to the functioning of Department of post India, you can hit the department on the popular micro blogging site Twitter @PostOfficeIndia.
The Indian Post was the first GOI department to go on a social networking page, and in just under three months after getting on the Twitter, the India Post has earned 1,164 followers and claims to have already resolved countless complaints and queries.
Department announced their presence on Twitter with an aim to address grievance and answer queries along with informing people about other activities.
According to officials at Indian Post, the Twitter account for Indian Post was started as a marketing tool for its international product, and all feedback including negative comment is seen as an opportunity to set things right. It claims “There is also a tremendous amount of goodwill for India Post.”
The Bio at twitter account of Indian Post at http://twitter.com/postofficeindia state “World’s largest postal network. Window to the world for the Indian citizen”. and they seems to have over 3,377 followers as of now including famous Sashi Tharoor.
As it seems, the Twitter account is currently managed by a single person on the site and with increasing awareness of its existence, the response time might get slower. But for now the Twitter presence seems to be a great initiative by a government department which are generally not known to be so approachable.
