Dell has officially launched its new ultra-thin and light-weight Dell Latitude 13 laptop that is been dubbed as “world’s thinnest 13-inch commercial client laptop at only 0.66-inch thick” aimed at the business travelers who prefer thin and light-weight laptop with with powerful processor and better graphics.features.

The new Dell Latitude 13 resembles a lot with Dell Vostro v13 laptop launched in Dec 2009 and sports thin and lightweight  design of Netbook PCs, with metallic angles and a clean profile somewhat similar to famous Adamo laptop.

Build with brushed aluminum casing with high-quality reinforced zinc hinges, the rugged Dell Latitude 13 laptop, offers enhanced durability with magnesium-alloy chassis, sealed keyboards and StrikeZone hard drives.

Only 1.5 Kgs in weight and and only 0.65 inches thick, the Dell Latitude 13 is powered by Ultra Low Power 1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Solo Processor SU3500 with 3MB L2 Cache, delivering 1066 MHz FSB build on Intel GS45 Express chipset circuit board and it offers 2-GB DDR3 SDRAM (1066 MHz) (Maximum 4-GB in a single slot) and 320-GB / 500-GB SATA 7200 rpm hard disk drive.

Ultra-slim Dell Latitude 13 laptop has 13.3 inch (33.7 cm) Widescreen WXGA LED Backlit TFT Display with TrueLife technology delivering 1366 x 768 pixels screen resolution powered by integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GMA 4500MHD graphics chipset with upto 512 MB shared video RAM. The TrueLife display technology allows higher contrast ratio than standard anti-glare displays for brighter images.

Other features of Dell Latitude 13 includes WiFi 802.11 a/b/g mini-card, Dell wirelss 360 bluetooth 2.1 module with EDR, high-speed WWAN, solid-state storage (SSD) of maximum 64-GB capacity, optional webcam with integrated microphone, and there is provision for installing an integrated UMTS module. Optionally it also offers an external Blu-ray drive for high-definition multimedia playback.

The new Dell Latitude 13 laptop also has enterprise-friendly features such as a long battery life and better security through a trusted platform module (TPM) and optional full-disk encryption using a hard drive with built-in encryption hardware, support for Broadcom TruManage technology and 3G mobile broadband.

According to Dell, the new Latitude 13 laptop is ready for desktop virtualisation with a pre -installed Citrix Receiver agent, and is qualified for VMware’s View. The laptop ships with a Citrix client installed making it ready for virtualization right away with no additional addons.

The Dell Latitude 13 laptop is expected to shipping this month at (not yet confirmed) estimated street price of US $1000 with 3-year warranty.
