D2 Technologies and Sequans Communications Offer VoIP over WiMAX Solution for 4G Home Gateways and Routers
D2 Technologies, a market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, in association with Sequans Communications, the world’s leading WiMAX chipmaker, announced today that its vPort Gateway (GW) embedded VoIP software now supports Sequans Comm’s WiMAX chipset solutions for 4G Home Gateways and Routers.
OEMs and ODMs have a faster and more economical way to design and develop WiMAX 4G residential gateways, routers and other CPE with broad VoIP and IP communications capabilities by using enhanced vPort-GW with support for Sequans’ SQN1210 WiMAX SoC,.
The combined solution delivers ultra high speed Internet access and optimizes carrier-grade VoIP functionality.
“With the WiMAX adoption rate accelerating within the industry, OEMs and ODMs are looking for ways to more rapidly introduce new products that take advantage of a WiMAX network’s stability and speed,” said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. “By partnering with D2 Technologies and integrating with its vPort-GW, we can help customers minimize risk and accelerate time-to-market for a variety of VoIP-enabled CPE through a superior WiMAX turnkey solution that offers a lower implementation cost.”
Sequans’ field-proven SQN1210 features patented dual transmit uplink technology with closed loop diversity that dramatically improves coverage and offers throughput of greater than 40 Mbps.
vPort’s advanced VoIP functionality also includes voice quality assurance technology such as jitter buffer and packet loss compensation, and enables rich voice features achieved with minimal memory and CPU impact.
The joint D2 – Sequans solution is capable of delivering dramatically reduced power consumption over previous generation technology for the three global WiMAX bands: 2.3, 2.5 and 3.5 GHz.
“By porting D2’s vPort to the Sequans’ SQN1210 SoC, OEMs and ODMs get the industry’s most advanced IP communications capabilities with best-of-bread VoIP quality, interoperability and CPU efficiency,” noted Doug Makishima, chief operating officer for D2. “Sequans’ advanced chip technology, coupled with vPort’s industry-leading VoIP technology, offers an unbeatable solution for today’s advanced routers and gateways.”
The announcement was made at COMPUTEX 30 Taipei, being held June 1-5, 2010 at the Taipei (Taiwan) International Convention Center in the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall.
